Mill House

Project Type:

Extension

Location:

Sussex

Project Description

The brief for this project was to create an efficient, low-energy building through remodelling and retrofitting. The home in Sussex features a modern contemporary side extension that accommodates a larger living room, a music room, and a shower room.

The design enables the spaces to be bathed in natural daylight through the provision of roof lights and strategically located windows that ensure the space is effectively lit from three elevations. The living area is filled with light coming from the wall of full-length windows and doors that lead to the outside space at the back of the house. The wall where the extension is connected has been left untouched and holds natural character and authenticity.

For this project we have completed the RIBA Stages 1-4.

Stage 1 - Preparation & Brief

Stage 2 - Concept Design

Stage 3 - Spatial Coordination

Stage 4 - Technical Design
