Chilgrove Business Centre – Air tightness results!

Jake White from Ecotecture has just overseen the air pressure test on our office development, just north of Chichester. The project has been a year and a half in development, so we have been awaiting the pressure test results for a considerable time. HRS services tested the building and found it achieved 0.67m3/m2/hour @ 50 pascals.

To make some sense of this near Passivhaus result, the air leakage through out the 10,000sq ft offices is equivalent to a hole 5.2mm in diameter. The result falls just short of Passivhaus which would require a figure of 0.6m3/m2/hour, but we are very happy which what has been achieved.

The offices are a conversion to an AtCost concrete frame structure, typically there are considerable limitations to energy efficiency standards that are achievable when working with  existing structures of this nature. Results from our Passivhaus Planning Pack calculations in combination with feedback from the electricians on site and energy generated from the 30kw Photovoltaic array, we should see this project achieving net zero energy consumption.
